I don't understand the movement of PD at all.
The only way I can explain is that PD depends on approved LC before PD. Such persons can apply for GC because they are current.

Yes, I'm on H-1B but I prudently avoided having any significant financial or personal ties in this country, because I knew this day would come.
So if something happens, no qualms about returning to India after 10 yrs of studying and working in the US. A person with skills will get a position anywhere in the world and succeed.

So you guys are saying that because you are on a H1B you are working harder than others? Let me tell you that working hard does not guarantee your job. I have seen hard workers laid off left and right, be it US citizens, green card holders or H1Bs. In fact one of my GC friends said that it is a constant fear for him to be employed at all times, he was unemployed for 10 months after the dot com bust. That changed him completely, he said what will I do with my GC, can I feed my kids with a GC? I need a job. So it is everyone's perspective. I look at him and say at least you have a GC, he says at least you have a job. :)
Probably most of you are aware of these things. So, let me say this advice is for newbies in the job. Lay-offs are done for business reasons and cost considerations. An American friend of mine lost his managerial job after 18 years of loyalty and experience. Company did not see the reason to continue to be in that business and the entire division related to the business was laid off. So working hard is good. Definitely a deserved trait. Do it for self-satisfaction, but not out of fear of loosing the job. At the same time, we should not be cloistered within the company working long hours. There are other things imprtant in life apart from the eight hours we spend at the office. I tend to my hobbies to keep my sanity after work. I look out for business indicators/news regarding how my company is doing. Good financial planning mandates savings around 6-12 months of living expenses which would lessen the impact of lay-off.;)

NKR - Sorry, I wasn't very clear and it got misunderstood.
What I am trying to say is that whether GC takes 1 years or 5years, it is worth the wait IMHO. If I have to do all over again knowing it could take 5-6 years, I will do it. But that's just my personal opinion.

If you heard what the restrictionist lawmakers have said about what to do with illegal�s, this retrogression makes sense. The restrictionists want to make life miserable for illegal�s by making it difficult for them to get jobs, this way the illegal�s would go back on there own.
They are trying to do the same thing with us legal�s (without saying it aloud). If you are from India it will take you at least 6 to 8 years (if you are lucky) to get a green card. Frankly in the fast changing technologically advanced world how many people can hold on to the same job for 8 years straight, they cannot. People lose jobs because they are laid of, the company has run into bad times, the technology has changed and the company wants to move you to a different role or position etc, this way a lot of people have to switch jobs which invalidates thete green card process. They are making your life miserable so that you are broken down psychologically and finally will go away either on your own or because of some arcane rule, example the labor should be applied more than one year before h1 expiration etc, a living example is that Indian guy who posted recently that he is leaving US to work for Microsoft in Canada. This way they get the best of both worlds, you have young people in the prime of there life without any diseases who do not burden there medicare system, working hard and paying social security taxes and medicare taxes (which they will not get back) and in the end they are kicked out or go away on there own.

I have a question. My Firm is a really small one, just 1 employer + my = 2. The tax returns are not so good, becouse all the money was invested in a second business. The firm started in June 2005. The Firm has ca. $65.000 in a saving account. My salary will be $2000/month. Will be enough this $65.000 for the USCIS, for the Ability to pay.

Generally there are lots of people getting affected. But there is no one to lead the fight. I am sure once we start people will come and join. I am in the process of contacting the attorneys and consulting companies to fight together. I am also hoping for IV core to come forward and give us direction on this. I am ready to lead and fight. I think DATE OF DELIVERY matters.
I clarified this by looking at the records in tarckit. There were people filed on 05/31/2007 to reach on 06/01/2007 and got the the receipt.

Why are they charging like this Why so much grudge ?Govt has to use this type of money for funding...unbeleiveble.
this is not a solution we pay so much taxes being in H1 when we will able to use our SS benefits only we are permanent here....Where does all our money go...We educate from our country with great difficulty spending so much of our hard earned money come here for better benefits We pay taxes here ...now what our money will go for others for free .

My 485 pending since July 17 (Received date July 18 and changed employer in Feb 08)180 days passed, changed employer using AC21 with H1B transfer after 180 days on pending 485.

What really baffles me is the attitude of some members in this forum. They contribute $20 a month (some dont even do that) and want to be treated as a Congressman , with updates & news flashes.
Get real people. First of all your contribution of $20 is nothing compared to what we are up against. We want to push for a change in law in a foreign country, which will impact generations of this country with a small contribution of $20.
The point being: If you cant run the show then shut up and watch it. Give your advise when asked for and dont pretend to own it.
