As per today $ conversion rate is ICICI offering 43.28 and SBI is offering 43.16,if you transffer more than $2000. So ICICI offering better rate.

LOL, Sorry about the jargon but it is derivatives, high freq, stat arb and options we are talking about. We can talk about stocks all day and I promise not to use math.:D
I partially work in the field plus studying too. And I am not in IT so I dont have to worry about product releases etc:D:D

how do you guys manage to do options/commodities/fx trading without missing prod release? :) you all seem to have lot of knowledge about all this stuff and its good to learn something new (although one like me need to google to understand what smisachu is saying :D)
I invest in stocks and etfs but am very impatient when it comes to maximize profits.. i like to take small small profits (5% to 7%) instead of one big kill.. btw, can someone suggest good REIT etfs? (sorry, not related to original commodities topic)

Have decided to dump my H1 for good and start EAD on my new AC21 job soon.
Using H1B makes one safe. but how many years we want to do the safe job. If I-485 gets denied do u have enough patiences to file another green card. One thing is believe is "We are here to make money, most of us are in our thirties and we have short time remaining to reach our goals. I think we all have one year EAD. wait for 6 months then go on job hopping, learn whatever you can, get into whatever you want. Start a business, do something.... Anything you do will help you in future. Sitting with H1B in pocket may take 4 years cream of your life.
If you have the talent you can get great salaries anywhere in the world. Because of your talents and hard work you guys are here. World is not small.

Not sure if you are a lawyer or you have a lot of insight into things, but in real world, even lawmaking is unique and vague. Courts and judges go by how best the case is presented and how and in what angle it can be viewed from and how similar things were dealt with in past.
Litigation experts also look at the psychological aspect of stuff. what I want to say is, the entire process of litigation is a huge animal and we can never judge or assess that.
One of my cousin sister is a criminal lawyer in India and when we get to hear the inside scoop of how stuff is handled in courts you will be surprised that your common knowledge about the law is just not good enough.
There are a lot of factors that go into the so caled legal world and mere book knowledge may not be sufficient.
Your views are good, but they definitely are "bookish" in nature.

This time i completely disagree with you.
There has been asset bubble in Indian properties due to cheap money.
Read the following excerpt from March 2008.
"� The yen carry trade is a �cheap money� gambit that exploits the extraordinarily low borrowing rates available in Japan. It is notoriously hard to quantify but is understood to have supported a series of the asset bubbles around the world in the past few years, from Indian property to fine wine and art
� Japan's low interest rates, an anomaly in the financial world, result from Japanese central bank monetary policy, which has, Richard Jerram, the Macquarie economist, said, �defied orthodox economic thinking for more than 20 years�
Not just realtors, but banks, Tatats, birlas and to some extent Reliance will fall prey to the folly they made between 2005 and 2007.
They borrowed Billions of dollars for their oversees acquisitions which are yen denominated.
NO wonder why INdian markets are collapsing even though the Indian market is de-coupled.
Hope this explains why there won't be any property value appreciation for next few years in India as well as anywhere on this planet earth.

Their had been some instances of mega-builders pulling out of mega-commercial projects such as Mohali inter-State Bus Terminal. But on same note, recent auction of commercial land by GMADA saw prices not fore-seen by general public. As rarely does anyone in north India believes on financial or non-financial promisary notes, as we do here in USA. So for individual buyers, it all boils down to cash transaction.
My suggestion, as someone noted their is 25% appreciation of USD, is to invest in india preferbly in partnership with someone you know and can trust.

I agree with all you folks that we should not just be happy and end our fight here after getting EAD etc...
We should try to push it back to the government as why legal immigrants from india have only 9800 visa every year...its unjust for a country as big as india and havin so many hitech workers....
On todays 7/18/07 NPR news, a USCIS spokesperson has mentioned that USCIS has made a note of the recent protests by legal immigrants(flowers and rally)....NPR also has mentioned this website also....it is a big achievement for us and we should pursue till the final step...check out the link below.....
