There is a funding drive in this other thread towards reimbursing the administrative costs of IV.

Could you please pledge an amount ?
I am very moved by the efforts of Aman Kapoor. Thank you!

Immigration is a privilege when we enter the country. But when we have been here for such a long time, paid our taxes and respected the administration and bureaucracy, its our right. As for the job loss, no job is certain for anyone. But at least a GC holder can look for alternate jobs. He is not tied to his labor cert/employer. When employees post for job, they might say need a citizen or gc holder. But never say we only need a H1-B holder. So when we have respected and followed the rules of this country immigration becomes a right as logic life suggested.

My 4 year old would sponsor my GC after 17 years. I have already made her sign the paper work. Who knows, after living 21 years in this country, she can change her mind too.:D:D:D
You are lucky man , my daughter is just 3 years old , I have to wait 1 year more than you :D:D:D:D

I won't go back - not because I am lazy or afraid of smarter people back home. I won't go back - not because I love USA dearly and not because I can't put up with hardships of my home country.
I won't go back because I did not come here to go back in the first place. I won't go back because my going back will change nothing. I won't go back because I love my job even if I can't change it. I won't go back because my kids have friends here. I won't go back because I am not the kind that gives up - even in the name of a social movement.

You can keep your PD if your 140 is approved from your current employer. I know of a person who did this succesfully.
But I believe you need to restart your greencard application from scratch.

BelmontBoy,
You didn't answer my question. Can you work for two companies processing your green card at the same time. I am working for employer A for 13 years and EB3 green card process pending for 8 years. Now while working for Company A, Can I start green card process through Company B(for part time work) and do porting to EB2? Please clarify. I am not intending to quit immediately after getting Green Card, I will work for 6 months after Green card for Company B(for part time)?
Is this legal to work full time for one company and part time for another company(I have EAD), both of them are processing green card at the same time? Is there a chance of getting RFE's OR Is there a chance of getting your original application getting rejected because of multiple employments and two green card process's at the same time.
Thanks

Very good times for outsourcing even more !!! The Indian Tech companies must be VERY happy.
Faulty Immigration Policy (FIP) : I am mighty FIP, I am going to decrease the H1 quota.
Industry : Okay , well, what can I do :( , Well !! If worker can't come to work.... How about send the work to the worker ?? :) ...Outsource !!!
Indian IT companies (IIC): We are glad to do the work. We have enough resources to ramp up and ramp down. we can send people on L1
Things are going well for a while ....
FIP : How dare they use L1s, I will make it very difficult to them. From now on L1 is tightened...Hehehehehe:D
IIC: Okay I need people to go to US for knowledge transfer, understand the requirements and implement S/W , let me apply H1s enmasse.... else I may not get a chance..
FIP : Errr , They are using all my H1s , let me tighten H1s even more, How about I charge $10000 for each person coming in. This must teach them (IICs and those out sourcing) a lesson.
Industry : I cant find any body here, and it is expensive even to continue my employees who are on H1. I need to off shore more work. Hey IIC , I need some one here for understanding my requirements.
IIC: Sorry sir, I cant send any one to US because it costs me $10K to begin with , and even if you are willing to pay that , there are no visas to any one. Gates of US are closed.
Industry: Okay I will send Bill, Dave , Frank and Amy who are our business analysts and managers to India for a month, they will walk you through the requirements and come back again for testing.
IIC: Okay , Indian Govt will be glad to give them visas.
India : Good, Instead of my sons going to US and spend all their money there on cars, houses etc, they will earn here and spend here. Other industries are happy too :)
Many years later .....
Bill : Amy, we should get there quickly , there are big lines at Indian consulate. Hope we can get in today.

Hey, priderock ...getup ...its time to go to office.

Bush tried really hard. I believe there is no complaint about Bush when it comes to immigration. He earned that credit.
I have just seen this in CNN, is Bush talking about legal immigration?

I think this should be highlighted as it conveys a very important message:
"you may wish to google the nyt articles on how numbers usa operates to derail bills- they call! if our members would show the same enthusiasm and every single person would call when requested, we could have the same impact."
these actions are not done "casually' or haphazardly"
we have created these strategies based on advice and feedback from the offices of friendly lawmakers, advice from professinal lobbyists and our own experience so far. the "assistants" you speak too keep running tallies of phone calls on a given issue and these are communicated regularly to legislative directors and lawmakers. digital signatures and even digital petitions are given less weight- handwritten snail mailed letters on the other hand are treated with great importance.

SERVICE CENTERS HOLDING ADJUSTMENT APPLICATIONS
(Greg Siskind's Blog)
USCIS service centers are holding adjustment applications filed based on the initial July Visa Bulletin. Some applications received on the first business day were returned, but all applications since then are being held and not returned. One can speculate on the reason, of course. Possibly USCIS is preparing for a loss in litigation. Possibly they are preparing to cave sooner. Let the speculation begin....

We have seen that even after the PD being current, there have been many people whose cases have not been approved. We saw last year in July many cases with later priority date and later receipt dates were approved and people with earlier PD and earlier Receipt dates still waiting,
Now with the 180 day rule for FBI name check, things could be expected to be little better, but we have to remember that since most of the cases are paper based, some one has to physically get to cases from a huge storage, sort it manually, distribute it manually and get it adjudicated.
So even if the visa number is current, just beacuse the number of applications are so high that we still cannot say for sure whose cases are going to be approved.
From www.immigration-information.com, it appears, the biggest factor in getting the GC visa number allocated to a case is, having a case ready to be adjudicated and in the hands of an immigration officer at a time, when both processing date and priority dates are current. It appears that even after the huge retrogression, there were not enough demand for AOS based approvals, so they had to PD current to allow CP based cases to use the visas and ensure they are not wasted. I like the fact that visa were at least not wasted, but I would have loved to see applicants who have been waiting for years to have a first opportunity to that visa, specially because they have done everything that any one could do.
I have been pro-fee increase by USCIS, only provided that they will use this money to expedite the processing, make things eletronic, make things more transparent, and to be honest, I feel the overall improvements are happening. Though I still see a lot of scope for futher improvements.
We have clearly seen that labor processing has been improved dramatically with PERM. Now waiting for years to get Labor is almost history. I hope that IV and all its members direct its efforts towards ensuring that we see the improvements in efficiency that we expected to happen with fee increases.
Lets unite together to work for a system which is fair and efficient for everyone. Lets contribute to IV administrative fixes and any other efforts which will ensure a higher efficiency and better utilization of visa numbers for AOS applications.

I have tried to put my career goals ahead of the dollar conversion rate (not always easy). Because i took up new roles and salary , i have had to restart the GC process a couple of times. As a result i am still without GC despite being here for more than 10 years and having two masters degrees from US. I am sure this is a common story here.
I am heading towards a another change and now have very little patience for restarting the process. I am glad many people on this forum have volunteered to help pack. I will be getting in touch with you in a few months.
That there are frustrated people with opportunities outside the US, and they will leave. This is a great example. However this is still a silly poll. It does not ask questions that will bring that out. It talks about leaving to prove something to someone. People did not come here to prove things to the US and will not leave for that reason.
On another note I heard this was an activist organization. A peek at the threads shows a lot of whining and complaining about being asked to be active. maybe I heard wrong.

May be its just me... but i think people like lou dobbs/Chris Simcox of Minute man defense corps/william gheen of Alipac (i think that's his name) thrive on misguiding and benefiting from innocent folks - I don't blame people who are misguided (who for the most part I would like to believe are genuinely concerned about illegal immigration). Its like the radio commercials... you want listeners to remember a phone #, keep repeating it... and the number sticks in your mind.
Lou Dobbs - Opportunist looking to make money from book sales and gain popularity for possible government public post
Chris Simcox - Raised millions to build a border fence which turned out to be a cow fence at best. http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/11/07/border.fence/
Alipac guy - Has no job, lives on money raised from Alipac members (3000 a month + travel and other expenses - as posted by himself on his site)
Lot of people are been misguided and taken for a ride in my view...

understood the anguish,... But will it do any good. No for sure. If not on H1, If not on L1 then outsourcing companies will find alternative like B1/B2 i have seen many examples... if on B1/B2 no benefits at all get the person get the work done forget the "Person"....
This bill will INCREASE Outsourcing.. .My view. becoz employers after reading the text would say why should i worry about filing H1 after all so no new H1 Transfers to regular comps and no to existing consulting companies due to 50% limit. L1's are screwed.
Ask yourself what does it do and whom does it help. Does it help existing economy , looks to many becoz they dont understand it increases offshoring...
But there is already enough abuse in H1/L1 , How is IV recommending path forward for this bill ?

I have read my post couple of times before posting to avoid any mis-communication...but it's never possible to prevent I believe:)
I have a recurring contributions setup and also contributed what ever I could this holidays...probably will contribute more before the end of the season. My post is not about the Monthly contributions made by you, me or many others...who signed up.
It's about the ones' who cannot for what ever the reason may be....you and me pointing to the salaries or house-hold incomes will not help them join the wagon.
It's about increasing the donations irrespective of people joining the monthly-contributions scheme....Other viable options...may be having a IV donation boxes...in immigrant owned businesses....etc.
In an ideal world as you mentioned atleast 20000 of 25000 will contribute monthly....It's defintely good to aim for that....but that's not realistic.

Yes, You are right...ICICI screwing up the customers like any thing.
Try using onlinesbi.com/gls for money transfers and u can also open NRI account....I have also used to use ICICI before but from past 1 year I am not using any more ICICI bank....If you guys want to open speak with New York Branch Asst Manager Saikrishna, he is so nice, he will helps you like any thing in terms of every thing...I have ever seen such type of friendlyness in any govt organizations.....SBI also gives better rate than any other banks or web sites.....
Guys time to realize that the ICICI is not a good one....more over it's private bank.....with govt banks you have 200% security.....
