I am a new member; just joined 59secs ago. I read some of the posts and know that there are some Singaporeans in this thread who have applied for the H1B1 visa under the US-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. Questions:
1. How long does the process of applying for the USSFTA H1-B1 take?
2. Where is the best place to apply for the USSFTA H1-B1 visa?
Please advise especially if you have already done it. I am about to start the process. Any advice is highly appreciated.

In the words of the person who sent this to me
I moved to the US on a H1 visa, from India 7 years ago. I have a Bachelors in Engineering and a Management degree as well. I work in the areas of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing. An area of expertise that helps corporations here in the US become competitive and stay competitive. Among other benefits, my work aids businesses in making informed operational, tactical and strategic decisions and gain competitive advantage.
With this retrogression, It is going be several years before USCIS will even get to my file to adjudicate. While I understand a green card is not my right, I think I have worked towards it for a long time now. I am in this country legally, paying taxes, contributing to this economy, spending my earnings in this country like any other law abiding American citizen.
I have legally asked this country and USCIS for Permanent Residency (PR). My request for PR is not based on the premise that my parents/relatives live here and are citizens in this country. I am not even asking for Permanent Residency because of the country I come from. I am asking for Permanent Residency based entirely on my educational qualifications, professional expertise and the demonstrated contributions I have made to businesses and the American way of Life.
I have also been accepted as an Instructor at a reputed University in California where I will be teaching in my area of expertise. This clearly helps the American society and Industry.
When I moved to the US, I believed America is all about meritocracy. Work hard, prove your worth and you get what you truly deserve. I feel six years is enough time to prove your worth to get a Permanent Residency.
My tax returns, my legal Status documents, my contributions to this economy etc will prove it. What is really disconcerting is the fact that, now I have to continue to wait for I don't know how many more years for USCIS to even look at my credentials, let alone give me an up or down decision. Mind you this wait is not because of any delays attributable to me.
Is this fair ?
If you think you don't need me, at least tell me, in a reasonable period of time. Please do not make me wait indefinitely.

I know a lot of people have advised you not to go to the cops but I feel ( I have a young son ) that you should not let anyone who beat your 8 month old kid go unpunished.
I am not a lawyer but from what I have seen about this country justice is not denied . Local cops and Immigration are two separate branches of government . ( ICE enforces immigration issues )

When you report a crime, in my opinion, the cops don't ask you for your immigration status before starting their investigations. Even if they do, they are not going to tell the immigration that a person on H-1B has hired someone who is not authorized to work. It is best to see an good attorney who might change you couple of hundred dollars only.
As hpandey said, the reason she continues to work is because she continues to find jobs with people who are looking for Indian nanny and most of such people are willing to look the other way when it comes to nannys immigration status because the nanny charges less or maybe because the nanny speaks your local language and apart from taking care of your kids also cooks for you while you are out working. If you report her to the cops it will make sure that she and others like her never do such a thing again. It will send a message to all such unauthorized workers to stop misusing their immigration status. Also, you might be able to save other children from similar trauma.

So why dont you see that this is not about helping a fellow human being in need. Everyone should do that. The sheriffs dept took her to the hospital to ensure that in case there is any complication, things could be take care of. Why? Because its the law and the majority in this country respect the law. No one, even illegals, can be denied emergent care. This would not happen if she were in Mexico or India. No free medical care there, and no one gives a shit about the rights of prisoners there.

The Sheriff or his officers are not Wardens. A Warden(the head of a prison) can order it if the inmate has demonstrated a history of assaultive behavior or escaped before. Neither applies. And the restraints have to be the least restrictive, not have both legs and hands shackled.

Friend - Why don't you wait till 9/18 and have this discussion. Oh, hold on, by that time, the rally will be a huge success and you won't be around here to show your face. Strength is in numbers and you will see the power of immigrants on 9/18. DOS has already allocated the available visa numbers for this fiscal to qualifying pending cases. There are are no more visas left to allocate.
It is still completely possible that there are ~ 14,000 pending cases with visas already allocated - simply awaiting approval by USCIS.
NO NEED TO PANIC

This constant pestering about filling up our profiles totally pisses me off. What exactly is the idea? That a person who is not waiting for a GC can't post in these forums? What if you are not even interested in GC? Or what if you are already a US citizen? Or may be just somebody happily living in Timbuctoo, and visiting these forums just for social networking?
